GTX 680 or Radeon HD 7970 Ghz edition?

Single monitor 1080p gaming, i7 980x processor

How far they are future proofed?

None are future proofed.No one is faster.680 wins in some game and 7970ghz wins in some.Some game difference between win is 2 or 3 fps .if that makes u feel it is faster.

agree 100% with this, things have changed a lot on games, it was sad watching how my new gtx 670 was getting a hard time getting a 45 fps on games like metro 2033 a 2 years old game kicking one of the best single gpu on the market, but well i guess the only one that can be called "future proof" would be the gtx 690 but even that one has 2x gpu in one so.

yeah i noticed that fps increase when you turn off that option, thing is, i was surprised to have to turn off stuff using that card, tho i remember reading in other forums DoF was horribly optimized on that game.
