More about will
  1. Yes. It will fit. The power supply (albeit on 300w) should be okay as long as your friend does not overclock the new video card.

    Have fun!
  2. It should fit and if it does not fit you could easily make it fit with some cutting but you should be just fine no case modding required.

Glad to hear that it will fit, but I used this PSU calculator: http://www.thermaltake.outervision.com/
and it came out to 305 w. That would be ok?
  4. The calculator tends to over estimate some requirements and the OEM PSUs are generally pretty good. Companies like HP really hate to replace parts.

Alright, so just to make sure, a new PSU is not neccesary?

As long as the 550 is not overclocked the current one is fine. Otherwise, a new PSU should be installed.
  7. I would go for a 7770 over the 550ti http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/541?vs=536 same price.
  8. Thank you for your help. Feels good saving on a new PSU :)
