Do I need an i5-3570 for gaming and music production?

For gaming a quad core is recommended, so an i5 is a good choice, but the i5-3470 is the best value of the i5 lot of locked cpus.

Most modern CPU's can handle music production no problem, also most games are GPU dependent. Now it all depends on what kind of gaming experience you desire ie, resolutions, graphical fidelity etc.

I am building a moderate gaming pc. Gtx660 ti. I as for the rest its still in in the air. Mainly going to be used for online gaming. If 900 dollar budget.
