I just got the 6820 and I'm looking for a good Bluetooth headset, not
knowing too much about it I sent an email to Nokia, below is what they
sent. I'm looking at the Jabra BT800 because the belt clip for the 6820
is a pain to take the phone out of, and I've answered a few calls that
I didn't really want to when I took the phone out, so I figured the
caller ID was pretty cool. Any advice???

Thank you for e-mailing Nokia's Contact Center.

We will be happy to assist you with your inquiry regarding the
availability of a Bluetooth technology headset for your Nokia 6820
phone and can provide the following information:

The Bluetooth technology headset options for your phone are the
following:

Nokia HDW-3 Wireless Headset
Nokia HS-4W Wireless Boom Headset
Nokia HS-11W Wireless Headset
Nokia HS-21W Wireless Headset

It is necessary to use the appropriate headset tested for your phone,
as each one has been specifically designed for use with a particular
phone model. The use of non-compatible headsets, such as the Jabra
BT800, Sony Ericsson HBH-660 or HBH-602, could cause damage to your
phone that cannot be repaired.

We have no control over what Nokia authorized dealers, service
providers and other companies sell as "aftermarket" enhancements. We
also cannot make them notify the customer that they are not providing
Nokia Original Enhancements. However, we do provide notice, as part of
our warranty, that using anything other than Nokia Original
Enhancements may void the warranty.

We invite you to visit our web site, www.nokia.com/us, and under
"Accessories", select "Accessory Store" from the blue selection bar.
Under "Browse by Phone", select "6820" and click on "Go". Click on
"Headsets" to view your Bluetooth technology headset options and
compare their features to see which one best suits your needs.

You may also order a headset for your Nokia 6820 phone by calling our
Nokia hotline at 1-888-665-4228 to ensure availability.

We hope this information helps you and regret any inconvenience this
may cause you.

It's not going to "cause damage to your phone that cannot be repaired."
is it? I can't imagine a head set doing damage to my phone... I can see
some functions not working...

I do like the style of the hs850 - Just the caller ID thing on the
Jabra is pretty cool.

Thanks for the info!

Thanks for all the info. And FLyGTi, it really did sound like BS, which
is why I posted the email here. Especially when it was explained how to
purchase one of their sets from Nokia's site... Gotta love it! Get
sales by using fear. BUY OURS OR DAMAGE YOUR PHONE FOREVER!!!
MMMMUUUUHHHAAAHHHAAA!!! Anyway, I will take all your advice and pop a
few on my ear and see what works out the best.

If you wouldn't mind, let me know how you like the HS850. The more I'm
looking at these, the more I like the style of the Moto's.

I'd go to a store and try them on for comfort. Couldn't get on with
the Motorola headset that came with the V600 I trialed, it bounced
around too much. I've got a Jabra BT200 which is much more
comfortable, now updated to BT250V. YMMV.
You won't be able to see the caller ID screen if the earpiece is on
your ear.

I tried one of the Moto headsets. I used the HS820. I absolutely
hated it and returned it the same day.

Why? Noise. Not from the headset itself, but surrounding noise.
Using the HS820 was totally fine indoors in a quiet place. In the car,
it was unbearable. Because it just hangs on your ear, noise gets in
between the headset and your ear.

I returned it in favor of a Jabra BT250. Not as sexy looking, but
certainly WAY more functional. Since it goes inside your ear, there's
no place for noise to sneak in.

I had a Jabra earwave boom for my old 6800 and it wasn't bad, but I
didn't like the "bug" inside my ear. It felt like a bug inside my ear!
There were a few sizes of the "MiniGel" inserts, but they all felt
weird. Who knows, maybe I'm just weird. So I was hoping to get an "on
ear" vs "in ear"

I'm surprised that no one mentioned the Motorola model 805; it runs on a
single AAA battery (that lasts forever), and costs a whopping $48 at
WalMart.
