im looking to dust off my old pc and get back into pc gaming, it currently has a radeon 5450 (go ahead, laugh) so im looking to get a new card. suprisingly that card can run skyrim with custom settings medium highs and lows. so yeah im looking for a new card amd or nvidia doesnt matter. my budget is between 100 to about 300 because im going to get a big enough power supply to go with it. thanks!

When you say " 100 to about 300 " do you mean dollars or pounds?

Hope I helped

I'd suggest this combo:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($16.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 660 2GB Video Card ($219.99 @ Microcenter)
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 430W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($25.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $262.97
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

GTX 660 will let you play most games maxed out. The power supply unit will power up the card. I've also included a cooler so you could overclock your CPU to get an every last bit of its performance.
