What socket to go for

Hi there guys

I am new to this forum, and i would like to ask a question , help me decide...

I am currently thinking of what to jump from socket 1156, to 1155 or 1366

ASUS Sabertooth X58 + i7 970

or

BIOSTAR TZ77XE3 + i7-3770

Price difference from these 2 are really low, but ASUS + i7 970 is used board ( no warranty ), and biostar + i7 3770 is new ( 2 - 3 years warranty )

Need a nice MB and CPU for 3d modelling, animations, video editing, etc.

I can't say anything bad about Biostar ( still use Biostar TH55 XE ) and i am huge fan of biostar since it's really cheap

More about what socket
  1. BIOSTAR TZ77XE3 + i7-3770 :)

there is no reason to go with old i7 920
  2. btw you should consider this cpu

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117286&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

and pair it with BIOSTAR TZ77XE3
much more appropriate for professional work
  3. Well i really like warranty and brand new stuff, so that's my first choice as well. Thanks for Your opinion u kinda made my decision easier.
  4. To be honest with u, i live in Bosnia, and i cant find that CPU anywhere... ordering that cpu from germany, or other county would take long time.. but i think this cpu could do the work.
  5. One more thing, is socket 1366 that much better cause of triple channel, six core cpu's etc ?
  6. actually tripple channel is a gimmick, no plus at all 920 is 4 core cpu

trust me, newer cpu is always better in performance/power
  7. oh you are talking about 970 :)
sprry, i misread this whole thing....

    i cant decide which one....
6 cores is sweet for 3d work
  8. me neither... but hate buying old stuff without warranty...
