This starting happening after I added another 512megs of RDram, now I would think of memory is bad, but if it was I should be crashing all over the place after XP has loaded. I have 4 single sided Rdram modules (32 devices) for a total of 1 gigabyte.
The weird part is XP only bsod's right before it about to come up with password screen. Once I hit reset it checks the HD then it boots fine, after that I can reboot all I want with no problem all day long. Until I turn the machine off, go to sleep wake up the next day. Then when it's turned on again for the first time that day it will BSOD in the exact same spot.
Actually it was more than just adding rdram. All rdram is from samsung.
The old modules I had were double sided, I had two installed for 512MB.
Then I got new modules that were single sided, the two single sided didn't like my double sided and couldn't boot. So I bought two more single sided and added those in and everything booted. Now I didn't get a BSOD at that time. What causes the BSOD is when the computer has been turned off for a while.
The type of error is pretty useless or helpfull. It says something like your machine has been haulted to prevent further damage, if this error happens again please contact, yadda yadda yadda. Course it neved happens 2x in a row.
