I've done enough reading in the past month to really get myself confused...

My situation is that I do a lot of video converting and also use my PC as a home server for media...

I have the hpe-170f and easily max out all threads on the i7 920 (unclocked because the mobo is locked) and all but 600mb of the memory...

I don't game on it only because I game on my xbox360.

My question is whether I should salvage some stuff from this PC like the CPU and GPU and add a good mobo for overclocking with water? Or should I start with fresh stuff such as the 3770k...

I guess my problem is that I'm not sure what the 920 over clocked can do against the new crop of CPU's and also that most of what I've read is geared toward gamers...my budget is $1,500 whether I keep some stuff or start fresh...any suggestions would be awesome because there are endless options that get confusing...also adding an ssd...sipped is the ultimate concerne....

And I'll be replacing the case, PSU, memory, cooling and motherboard at the very least.

Also I'm not against using amd

If you don't need OS just tell me, this video card will max out all games. I think you wanted to game with it, I really didn't understand. But this pc is a beast. SSD will make loading times faster.
