Upgrading from nvidia GeForce 9800 GT

December 12, 2012 10:59:07 PM

Hello,

I plan on upgrading my 1GB nvidia Geforce 9800 GT to something better, for playing games such as Skyrim, Rift, and other upcoming titles. I like graphics, I play Rift with nearly everything maxxed with little lag. I get the occasional crash in Skyrim, but I can overlook that. I would like to get a GTX model, but I'm unsure if my PC can handle it. Here are the specs copypasta from my reciept:

INTEL STANDARD PROCESSOR COOLING FAN
OCZ/ARCTIC Ultra 5+ Silver Thermal Compound
PROFESSIONAL WIRING W/ROUND CABLES ON MY PC
ASRock P55M Pro LGA1156/ Intel P55/ DDR3/ Quad CrossFireX/ A&GbE/ MATX Motherboard
4GB (1x) Corsair Vengeance DDR3
(1X) MEMORY HEAT SPREADORS
500GB 7200 RPM 16MB CACHE SATA 3.0Gb/s
Dual Fan Cooler for Hard Disk
22X DUAL LAYER DVD-RW W/LIGHTSCRIBE
nVidia GeForce 9800GT 1GB DDR3 DVI/VGA SLI PCI-EXP Video Card
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 24-bit Sound Card
REALTEK 10/100/1000 Gigabit Network Card (onboard)
NZXT ALPHA MID-TOWER ATX CASE
DELUXE COOLING PACKAGE
hec X / ROSEWILL 600 WATT HIGH PERFROMANCE SLI/CROSSFIRE POWER SUPPLY
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I can only have 4GB of RAM on this PC due to a DIMM slot blowing out. I wish I could put more RAM on, but it needs repair or a whole new MB.

So, what would be the best card to get without blowing up my PC? Around the 200$ price range (or lower) in a few months?
Thanks in advance!
