Hey all really having problems with my graphics card ATI 4890. Up until now I always used the stock cooler until it started making a really loud noise when playing games. I was told to buy an after market cooler so I bought the Gelid Icy vision rev 2 cooler. I don't know whether i installed it wrong becuase it was my first time but my graphics card keeps crashing when I am playing WoW. Red boxes appear on my screen then the screen fizzes out and I get the 'no signal' message.
At first I thought maybe it was the Temperature but when im not playing games it stays in the region of 44 - 47 C and when im playing Wow it goes up to between 60 - 75C depending on which graphics setting I have. Im really confused and I don't know what to do. The card is two years old and im not good with hardware but due the the noise made by the stock cooler (apparently the barings were loose) I had to take the initive to replace the cooler.
I put the RAM heat sinks on fine and the VGA heat sinks were already on by my supplier so I did not see the point in replacing them. I put a pea sized dot of thermal paste on the gpu core as required. The only trouble I had was putting the card back in its slot, I tried to handle it with care but it was difficult and a cable plug on my motherboard was getting in the way, I had to squash the cable and make sure it did not get in the way of the fan. But for my card the temps I mentioned seem good so the cooler seems to work. Have i put the coolers back plate the wrong way or something?
