Which Model of GTX670?

Hi guys, so i'm building an $1,200 gaming rig.

As a part of my part list, i have settled on a gtx 670 GPU.

My only question is: what manufacturer and model should I pick?

Right now I have two lined up.

EVGA FTW GTX 670 2GB 1006/1084hz For its decent boost clock rate and above average baseclock.

MSI GTX 670 Power Edition 2GB 1019/1079mhz For its nice factory base overclock, and according to other threads, it can be easily overclocked with the afterburner software to equal a reference gtx 680 in performance

Also, this GPU has a massive and super quiet cooling system, which is a plus.

If there are any other suggestions for 670's leave em here!

The rest of my build:

Processor: Intel Core i7 3770k
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 Low Profile
Hard Drive: Seagate 1TB 7,200 RPM
Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Advanced ATX Full Tower
Power Supply: Corsair enthusiast 650w
Cooling: Hyper 212 EVO Universal CPU Cooler
DVD Burner: Samsung SH-224BB/BEBE SATA DVD-RW Burner

More about which model gtx670
  1. This one is for you then it's the second quietest 670 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125423
  2. Your other option would be http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121637 because the Evga is loud and runs kinda hot my cousin has it.I have the MSI 670 PE a little loud as well.

Another reason i liked the MSI one is because it allows overvolting which is rare. Although I do love a quiet GPU, its not my #1 priority. How would the card you picked stack up against the others i have picked, and others on the market?
  4. It would stack up pretty close here is MSI 670 PE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnLUJxCBZUg&feature=plcp Crysis 2 Campaign MSI GTX 670 OC Test http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiE_4cz0aDo&feature=plcp Battlefield 3 PC Operation Swordfish Campaign Combat GTX 670
  5. So if i were to OC, you recommend the MSI? I would like to hear someone else's opinion as well, just to make me feel more at ease with my investment.

Don't look like anyone is coming so here professional reviews to make you feel more at ease. These are all out dated though but that only means the performance is better now since there has been new drivers From best to worst from techpowerup

Asus 670 TOP - 10.0 rating (only card ever to get a 10.0)

    Gigabyte Windforce SC 670 - 9.8 rating

MSI Twin Frozr IV 670 - 9.7 rating

    Palit Jetsteram 670 - 9.7 rating

    Zotac AMP 670 - 9.6 rating

They didn't do the EVGA so.....

    http://www.guru3d.com/article/evga-geforce-gtx-670-sc-review/23
EVGA SC Boost Clock is 1046 outta the box....stable at 1200 Mhz
EVGA SC gets 3DMark Score of 8691 outta the box and 9443 OC'd
Idle temp is 29C / load temp is 78C
Noise is 37 dBA Idle / 43 dBA under load

    http://www.guru3d.com/article/asus-geforce-gtx-670-directcu-ii-top-review/23
Asus TOP Boost Clock is 1137 outta the box .... stable at 1280 Mhz
Asus gets 3DMark Score of 9340 outta the box and 9839 OC'd
Idle temp is 30C / load temp is 72C
Noise is 37 dBA Idle / 38 dBA under load

That makes the Asus 7% faster outta the box than the EVGA SC, 6C cooler and almost 1/4 as loud under load (every 3 dBA is a doubling of sound level). The FTW is slightly faster than the SC, leaving the Asus model w/ just a 5% performance advantage

I like that asus, but it seems to be in limited supply. I'm not in a rush to build so I'll wait and see.

  10. That's a good idea.Good luck!
  11. The Asus TOP version is a little hard to find because it had been pulled off shelves for a couple of months due to instability out of the box because it was boosting too high -- its fixed now but it can be hard to find.
