Power Supply Recommendation?

Hi! I've built my computer a few months back and I've been upgrading quite a bit. I'll need to get a new power supply if I want to do SLI, but I can't figure out which one because I always get mixed reading from lots of different websites. I'd like to go with a Corsair power supply because I know that they make good quality power supplies. Here's my specs:

Core i5 2500k @ 4.3GHz
8gb Corsair XMS3 RAM
GTX 560 Ti (Soon to be SLI)
Z68XP-UD4
320GB Seagate Barracuda

Any suggestions on what the cheapest Corsair power supply I should get? Thanks :D

  1. to sli, http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cmpsu750txv2

    750 is minimum for safety

the actual power consumption shoul be around 500W
  2. Awesome! If the actual power consumption is 500w, why would I need to get a 750w power supply? is it just for when the computer's at full load or something?
  3. PSU 500W doesnt provide enough cable/GPU power pin to run SLI
minimum 750 does provide those cables

and stressing psu is a bad idea. always leaves room for everything. and lack of power can lead to permanent damage of your cpu/gpu
