i have a creative audigy soundcard. it has an intigrated firewire port. since installing windows xp when i plug my DV cam into there (or any other dv cam for that matter) i get an unknown device (not the camera) it is called: "AV/C SUBUNIT" and it doesn't not have device drivers for this. I was wondering if you had any solutions :)  i've fooled around for hours! :)  as soon as i unplug the camera the unknown device goes away. it is not camera drivers that i need i knwo that for a fact as there really are no firewire dv camera drivers out there
thanx for your time!

hi, Moast of the harware problems are driver related... take for instance my nvidia & tv card conflict, i use the default drivres for the nvidia card & all worked fine but then i use the latest drivers & nothing workd & i ahve alot of bother !. Anyway, you could try downloading the drivers from the cameras websit or from anothe source ?, or if your soundcard has any "hidded" system setting's ?. The other thing that i can say is that : I used to work in an eletrical shop & with windows xp dosent like "card readers" (for digital cameras) & as far as i know there isnt away to sort this out!, this might be the case for you... But other than that i cant help......

linux has got to be better !
