Theses forums are always useful with any tech issues I have and normaly after searching the issue I can find a solution but Ive tried everything with my new rig and keep getting really low frame rates in surround.
My spec is : Asus Rampage 4 extreme mobo
1275w power supply
intel i7 3970 (not overclocked)
3x gtx 680 2gb (not overclocked)
cpu and gpu's liquid cooled
windows 7 ultimate
When i originaly ordered this rig I had problems from the start. When I tried running a game in surround the computer would always crash and restart itself after between 5 and 15 minutes depending what game i was running and on restarting I would always get a message after the boot screen saying overclocking had failed. They had the rig back and found a fault on the bottom graphics card which they replaced and sent back but now that I have it back I am getting horrible performance in surround.
BF3 for example can sometimes be getting as low as 20-25 frames a second on medium settings and is totaly unplayable and even older games like GTA4 have the same issue. The one thing I should point out is that even with the old graphics card everything would run perfectly smooth, even BF3 on ultra settings, up until the point where the thing would just restart itself.
One thing I did notice when the computer was returned was that a different make of gtx680 had been used to replace the faulty card however I wouldnt have thought this would be an issue.
Ive contacted the guys who built it and they are telling me to try different drivers (even though it ran perfectly smooth with the old card till it would crash with my current drivers installed) and are saying they are certain its not a hardware issue. I have had no luck getting the top DVI port on the new gtx680 to detect a monitor, it will show the bios boot screen but then stay black when windows loads and according to NVIDIA control panel has no monitor plugged into it.
Im paranoid that ive had one faulty card replaced with another but as I said the guys who built it assure me its not a hardware issue. If any of you guys have any ideas what might be causing the rubbish frame rates and the DVI port not to work I would be really gratefull.
