Greetings,
I have been looking at running J2ME on my T3. I am curious about all the
Java games and appplications that are written for mobile phones. Will any of
these programs work on the T3 w/J2ME?

Personally, I wouldn't try your luck if I was you, but that's just me. I
personally only would download apps that would be 100% compatible with the
Palm Tungsten T3 and E.
Again, it's just me, but feel free to download those Java Games for Mobile
Phones onto your handheld. If they don't work, then please politely beg for
a Palm OS-friendly version of a particular game.
How about a game of Qix or two?

Not looking to try my luck just wondering if anyone knows whether or not
they are compatible. Platform independence was supposed to be a key feature
of Java. It appears from the brief research I did that the Java games and
applications that are available have specific versions for specific
platforms (mostly phones).

I can't even tell if it's possible to download them onto the Palm. I haven't
seen any tools to convert the Java code to a pdb or prc file for Palm use.
Perhaps the J2ME environment handles this somehow?

Sounds good to me...

That's pretty much what I suspected. I thought it was a bit odd that most of
the links from the PalmOne page on J2ME were to sites with Java midlets for
mobile phones.

They should !!! You can download the
JVM for the Palm below and there is
also an utility that converts .jar/.jad to .prc
so you can install midlets on your Palm
just like native apps. The T3 is an amazing
platform to run J2ME apps. Large heap
(4 Megs), fast processor and bigger
screen than typical phones.

No need even for the utility to convert, it's installed as part of the
package. I just surf with my Tungsten C with the built in browser, and tap
on a .jar or .jad and it's passed with exchange manager, converted, and
fired up.
