hello. i'm not very computer literate, so please don't laugh at my ignorance. lol
i want to hook my laptop to my 51" plasma t.v.
the only output i have on my laptop is a v.g.a., so i know i will need a cable that has v.g.a. on one end and either hdmi or rca on the other to plug into my t.v.
what i really need to know is will my video card be strong enough to do it. it is an intel series 4 express chipset.
thank you and please be gentle.

It is not a simple cable. You need a box where VGA signal is converted into HDMI.
Here is something found on Amazon

This will be probably good enough for movies, but don't expect games on super-hi-resolution to work any good.

Edit: Does your lapop has S-Video output?

Most TV's that are somewhat new (as your sounds) have a VGA or DVI input. Check on the back to see exactly what connectors it has.
