Safe to apply sound dampening foam under motherboard?

Hello,

I recently purchased some SilverStone silent foam sound dampening material, and was looking to apply it to my htpc. My question is short and sweet;

Is it safe to apply this directly to the bottom of the case, directly under the mobo? With holes for the mounting screws of course.

I ask in case there are any possible side effects that can come from the underside of the mobo touching the foam (be it static, heat, etc.) My goal is to have every metal surface inside the case covered.

the motherboard gets hot , and may melt or set fire to the foam if its touching

I guess it depends on available space and the thickness of your material.
