[Graphics Card] Looking for an Upgrade

Currently using an ATI Radeon HD 3800 series graphics cards and looking for an upgrade under the $250 range. Not sure what sure what to be looking for in a graphics card so I thought I would ask here. The computer I'm using is mainly a gaming computer if that helps.

Not sure if what else you would need to know but here are some specs.
AMD Phenom(tm) 9550 Quad-Core Processor (4CPUs), ~2.2GHz
4096MB RAM

In the $250 price range you have a lot of options, all depending on if you want to spend the whole $250 on a video card or if you want to upgrade some other components.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, what is your motherboard and power supply?
