Multi-GPU Compatibility?

*Disclaimer: I'm not very tech savvy.
Though I did read the FAQ, didn't quite answer very question.

With my mobo: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7 -- AMD 990FX w/ 6x PCI-E 2.0 x16, and aiming to get a second AMD Radeon HD 7970 - 3GB. Would my second card be simply installed, or would I need an "external bridge" (Not sure what this is*) or some other component?

Any help is appreciated, thanks! :sol:

You will need to install the crossfire bridge as well. Have fun and verify that your power supply is up to the task.

I currently have the 1000 Watt - AZZA Titan 1000W, any idea if that is sufficient?

EDIT: And would additional cooling measures be suggested?
  3. Yes, that PSU should be fine. As long as your case has good cooling and airflow, you shouldn't need anything additional. Of course, if you have additional positions available for more case fans, you can always add them and increase your airflow.
