Hello everyone. I recently acquired a Pioneer LD-V2000 industrial-type
player which was originally part of a Nintendo "Power Preview" kiosk.
It came with some of the original control hardware, but not the
original remote. Since there aren't any buttons on the front of the
player (apart from power and open/close drawer), it is impossible to
manually control the player. If anyone would happen to have a spare
remote for this unit (type RU-V103, according to what I've read) that
they would be willing to get rid of, it would be appreciated. Thanks in
advance.

Does Pioneer not still have this item? I recently bought an LD V8000 remote
from them which is something of the same vintage, I think. It might even be
the same remote although I do not know for sure. Kurtis Bahr would certainly
know.

Another alternative might be ...
Find someone with an original remote, borrow it,
and see if you can use it to program all its
functions into a universal remote.

People constantly sell the CU-V113 on eBay which was for a lot of the
industrial units. It is the same codes as used for the consumer remote so
it you can find one of the mid 1980's or earlier consumer remote it will
work also.
The big difference between these older remotes and the new ones is that with
the older ones you press in the chapter number and then press search. With
the new remotes when you press the single digit keys the units automatically
search. Without the search button you will not be able to enter a chapter
number and jump to it.

I've found that the cheap universal remotes wont operate a laserdisc
player. I found a $50 sony remote "RM-VL1000" at costco for $50. I
still had to program each key individually.
