Konica Minolta to liquidate Canadian unit
Konica Minolta has decided to liquidate a wholly-owned Canadian unit
that sells digital cameras because of stiffer competition. The Japanese
company says the closure will not affect its forecast for the financial
year end in March 2006. The Canadian unit is valued at around CA$5.66m
(US$4.76m). Konica Minolta said that it will seek partners who can
distribute its cameras in Canada. (11:20 GMT)

$5.66m liquidation? That sounds like office space and furniture, maybe
some real estate holdings and severance packages for local staff.
Doesn't sound like a big deal to be honest...with NAFTA most product is
shipped and supported from the US anyways.
Not that KM is in the order of Nikon / Canon here, but I doubt this
will have any negative effect on their sales (assuming KM doesn't
blunder the administrative handover).

From what I've been told KM USA doesn't want to sell to Canada as it causes
logistics headaches.

I saw a guy with a Minolta DSLR in Central Park (NYC) on Monday. He was
standing on Bow Bridge, taking pictures of all the woman with exposed
cleavage passing underneath in rowboats.

You mean you haven't been exposed by Minolta Browne yet? Consider
yourself lucky.

Did he have ugly teeth? I mean *really* ugly teeth?
