Will 7850 be bottlenecked by x3 440

i have this PC currently
cpu : athlon ii x3 440 3.0ghz 1.5mb l2 cache
motherboard : gigabyte ga-880gm-usb3
ram : 2 x kingston 2gb ddr3 1333mhz dual channeled
GPU : Radeon 4250 built in

i am planning to get a sapphire radeon hd 7850 1gb

will there be a huge bottleneck by the cpu should i upgrade to an i3 with b75 mobo and get a 550ti instead which will give better performance

More about will 7850 bottlenecked
  1. go for the 7850 and if you seem to have a problem with playing your favorite game . .get a phenom II x4 which i believe your mobo supports.

A little depending on your games -- maybe a lot in a game or 2 that is really CPU heavy.

Clock-for-clock an AthlonII will perform about 5% slower than a PhII -- a light 10% in those CPU intensive games...

Two thoughts: Gigabyte motherboards are bad to over-volt with Vcore on **Auto** and with DDR3-1333 your sweet spot with the system clock is 250MHz

You should easily be able to run 14x250MHz with good air with 1.3875v or so.

That will give yah a nice boost :D
  3. you didn't answer my question guys

  4. No.

    Do what looniam suggested.
  5. the X3 might bottleneck a 7850 some, but it'll still be way, way ahead of an i3 + 550
