Motorola Surfboard modem

Hey Toms. I've got a query

I recently bought a second shaw cable Motorola surfboard off of Kijiji, so I can replace my old modem. (it is a .....2 the latest version)

Upon plugging it in, the send/receive lights both flash and it fails to provide any network.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks Toms.

  1. That would either indicate there is no signal/bad signal to the modem so it can't sync, or the modem is bad.
  2. I have the similar hub as you, but after a period of renting, I just went ahead and determined to BUY the hub. It's efficient with no noticed connection drops. If anything, when the globally web does go down, the immediate main cause has always became the hub behind the hub. SB5100 are quite efficient places even nowadays. I think I've owned and operated it for over 3 years now.
