Hello everybody. I am new to the forums and i would like your opinions/advice. I am trying to build a gaming pc for under $600 and this will be my first build. I have spent the last 2 days or so lurking this forums and i have come up with a build but do not know if the parts even fit or are compatible let alone the performance it will give on games like bf3 and other steam games as well.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 AM3 3.4Ghz 512KB 45NM 125W 4000MHZ ( $94.20 @ amazon)

GPU: MSI R7850 Twin Frozr OC AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB GDDR5 DVI/HDMI/2xMiniDisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card R7850 TWIN FROZR 2GD5/OC -( $224.99@ amazon)

MOBO: Gigabyte AMD 760G + SB710 Chipset DDR3 1333 AM3+ Micro ATX Motherboard (GA-78LMT-S2P) ( $45 @amazon)

RAM : Corsair Vengeance 8 GB ( 2 x 4 GB ) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) 240-Pin DDR3 Memory Kit for Core i3, i5, i7 and Platforms SDRAM CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 ($49 @amazon)

HARD DRIVE: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB SATA III 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Desktop Hard Drive - WD5000AAKX ($50 @ amazon)

OPTICAL DRIVE : Lite-On Super AllWrite 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive - Bulk - IHAS124-04 Version C (Black) ($17 @ amazon)

PSU: Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 500w Power Supply (RS500-PCARD3-US) ($36 @amazon)

Case: Rosewill Dual Fans MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case FBM-01 ( $30 @ amazon)

Total : approx $550

I am not really interested in maxing out bf3 or any other games like that. I just need smooth gameplay. Please let me know what you guys think and if you might recommend a better build, i'll really appreciate it. Thanks

P.S i will be playing on a 20 inch monitor at 1080p.

I have to agree with Tiny Voices. That PSU isn't a true 500W. More like a 300w-350w. OK, but you can do better for the price. Coolermaster does OK with cases, but PSUs aren't their strong suit.

The case, as mentioned, is too small. You will have cooling issues, and there is no room for cable management. If this is your first build, don't ruin the experience by fighting a small case.

e_x has a good build laid out for the price.
