CPU Spiking when using VoIP

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble trying to fix a rather annoying issue with a CPU spike:

I notice it only happens when I connect to any VoIP conversation, whether using Skype, Xfire, Steam, you name it. Sometimes after the call the spikes stop, other times they don't. The spike causes lag spikes in games and flash videos (youtube for example), which is quite annoying :pfff:

I'm suspecting the audiodg.exe process is causing this issue, but I'm not entirely sure. Does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks!

  1. Ok here's an update: I know for sure this only occurs when I'm using my usb headset. If I unplug the headset or disable it, I get no spikes when in calls. I'm still trying to figure out how to prevent this...I've got the LifeChat LX3000 headset from Microsoft.
