Cable management behind motherboard

Hi there,

I'm currently building my first pc; I scrimped a little on the case and settled for a cooler master elite 430. As mentioned on most reviews, cable management is almost impossible in this thing, I've done the best I can by diverting most wires behind the bay slots. My main problem is with the cpu power connector which is tucked away in the far top right hand corner (motherboard is an Asrock extreme6). The cpu power cable on my antec PSU is a little on the short side so I'm finding it hard to connect it up in a tidy way. My question is; Is it safe to run the cable directly underneath the motherboard (in the 2/3mm left by the metal spacers) and run the cpu power cable directly to the connector (whilst avoiding the cpu back plate)?

Could I potentially damage anything on the backside of the motherboard?

Thanks for your help in advance

I can't tell from online pics - is there any gap at all at the top of the mobo mounting area and the top of the case? If so I'd pop it up and over that way, staying in the cable area behind the tray (not between).
