Looking to upgrade my GPU

I have upgraded my gpu once before.. Now i have a gtx 260.. Its starting to show its age a bit.. And i was looking to get a new one. Anyone have any suggestions on which one i should look for.. My pc is prob 5-6 years old and its a dual core processor.. I think i have a 1000w power supply but i am not quite sure..

Just wondering if i could go much higher with a gpu without my CPU holding it back? Thanks for any help in advance!
