HDD activity LED on front of case isn't working - what have I done wrong?

Can't work it out... It's an Asus motherboard...

The polarity is marked "+ -" and unfortunately the white silk screening is not distinct.

Usually, the + lead is the colored one, and the ground is the black or white one.
But, there is no standard.

Yes, try reversing the leads.
Have you verified that you are connecting to the proper pins?
Is it possible that the lead has come loose at the led end?
