Graphics card ?'s Need Help!!!

Currently I have a computer with a Quad core Fx-4100 processor, a Radeon HD 6450 card, 8GB of RAM and a 480W power supply. I'm planning to upgrade to a Radeon HD 7850 2GB Saphirre to play high graphics games like BF3 and Crysis. Is this worth the money or is my processer holding me back? Also need to know if i need a better PSU. And tell me if you think there is a better option.

  1. Yes you will need a new PSU at least 500W

and your processor is probably holding you back a little bit you will get some bottleneck so a lesser GPU might be better for you
  2. I think the biggest problem you will have is your CPU. I built a PC with that same CPU with a solid GPU and I lag in most games. Just to give you an idea, I took that same GPU and placed in a new intel i5 rig and I went from 50 fps on WOW to over 100 fps in the capital city of OGR
  3. the 7850 is a mid range graphics card that wont tax your cpu too much. however you can always overclock your cpu to gain additional performance for free.
so dont worry about your cpu at all.
and i think your 480 watt power supply is capable enough to handle a 7850 as long as it has a six pin pcie connector to provide power to the 7850
  4. I am telling from experience that CPU is garbage and you will lag in games.
  5. Nah, the CPU shouldnt be that bad. You may wanna overclock it a bit if you can.
  6. its not garbage. its just not as good as intel cpu's.
but that does not mean its so weak that it cant even handle a 7850 and lag in games.
overclocking that cpu will yield some extra performance but he may need an.aftermarket cpu cooler

If it would be bottlenecking then what do you suggest? Upgrade my CPU? If so to what?
