Provide a link for both the items, it might just be that one is two slots, I remember Asus recently released a 680 DC2 which is two slots instead of the usual three.

ASUS' website indicates that the "G"" means it comes as a package deal with some Game, but I realize it is not generally advertised that way online by the various stores. I've mostly seen that on ASUS' website.

I think the only 2-slot ASUS 680 available a this time (December 18, 2012) is the 4 GB version.

Wish I could find a 2-slot ASUS 680 with only 2 GB.

Look for the ASUS GTX680-DC2-4GD5, there's only the 4GB with two slots as you said, the price difference ain't much.
Or get an ASUS GTX670-DC2-2GD5 or Direct CU II TOP 2 (performance difference ain't much, better value performance/price).
