Cant find wireless lan adaptor in device manager

Hello,
my wireless connection suddenley stopped working, the light no longer turns on and the wlan is no longer an option in the vaio smart network folder, its completley disapeared, can someone help and i can only connect to the net via ethernet cable now

did you accidentally turn off your wireless network card on your laptop?

i dont think so, i had to update my comp one day then it just didnt work, where can i find if it has been turned off?

the light does work until my home page loads up then it turns off

is anything listed under Other Devices in the Device Manager?

i dont have that listed in my options, i have network adapters, which list my ethernet connection, no mention of "other devices"
