Gaming Build...suggestions?

Hey guys i'm building a new gaming rig and I wanna know if the i5 3470 is a decent cpu for gaming. I was going to buy a 3570 but it seems a bit pricey and i don't plan on overclocking.

In your opinion, How well will the 3470 perform in games at the resolution of 1680x1050 and lower? I'm currently using a resolution of 1440x900 and find it just as nice as higher resolutions.

I wanted a really good gpu for 200-350 bucks and decided with the 660 ti because i love cuda and i'm a fan of nvidia(Not to be mistaken with a fanboy).

Also, i know the intel stock fans are crap and have been crap for the longest time, so whats a decent CPU cooler for 30 bucks or less that will get the job done? remember i'm not overclocking. I already know of the CM Hyper 212 Evo but i wanted to hear other suggestions besides that one.

Also if someone could recommend a decent mid tower case for under $60 i'd really appreciate it. So far i'm thinking about the HAF 912... Would prefer the HAF 922 because of the extra cooling and nice design.

By the way, When it comes to ram, is there any difference between 1333mhz and 1600mhz in gaming? I'm going for 8GB of ddr3 memory.

I'm trying to keep the build under $900 but it seems it will be difficult.

P.S Im ordering from NCIX (Canadian :D  )

For a non-k CPU, the stock cooler will be more than fine. The i5 is a great gaming chip and will do everything you want it to.

Oh, well thats reassuring :D  thanks. However, I really dislike the push pin design, so i was looking into this cpu cooler

http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=67721&vpn=CNPS%205X%2...

it's the Zalman CNPS 5x CPU cooler. Its only $5 after rebate and it's not a bothersome pin design. Can this keep my 3470 under 45 degrees? Or less?

Also, will having one 8 gig stick of ram bring down my performance aside from being two 4 gig sticks of ram? I'm asking because I'm looking at a cheap $30 8gig stick of ram and wondering if it'll lower my fps or make it less performance

Get 2 4gb sticks. RAM is always faster in dual channel. The cooler you listed is probably worse than the stock intel cooler.

Worse than the intel stock cooler? really? I didn't even think that was possible... The Zalman x5 has several heat pipes to dissipate heat, and its silent...I think i'll stick with it. Do you have any recommendations for cases?

Some good cases are the coolermaster haf 912 and the corsair 300r. NZXT also makes good cases.
