My pc restarts when i use the shutdown command

hi....i use windows 7 basic as my os.
my pc restarts when i try using the shutdown option..
please help me out..

It probably does shutdown, but assume that in the bios you have "start on power" or "restore system on AC" enabled.

Check the bios first for that option and if it's on disable it. If this doesn't solve it well go from there. Might be corrupted shutdown sequence then.
