Here are some specs

os: xp
mobo: m2n68-la (pci-e x16)
psu: 500watts
cpu: amd athlon 64 x2 4200+
22" lcd monitor

I'm looking for the best possible graphics card for my system. I know cpu is outdated but I'm primarily looking to use it for (older games) gaming and hd video watching. I don't expect that I will have to spend more than $60 since I do find good cards on amazon for $40-$50 for ex. the gt430 is $50 and the hd5450 for $32 I want the best possible gpu for my system without being bottlenecked by my cpu.

I did have a 7600gt installed and for some reason it does not work, probably burned. That size fits just right, or something smaller (not sure if I need a low profile one).

Thanks guys

cool thanks.
couple questions though, the gt640 is a 3.0 x16 would that be compatible? I have an old motherboard and is the mail in rebate easy to get from newegg? I know most stores do everything they can to make you not qualify

I concur with rolli on the gt640 for $50 net, I just recommended the
same card to another OP a few min ago.

Tom

mir comes from card mfg - I got mine (from Sapphire) within a couple of weeks

if you have a pci-e slot(even versions 1.0,2.0,etc) the card will work, just chsck that you have a pci-e slot

I found a used ati 5750 ddr5 for $55 and can pick it up locally. Should I get this or the gt640?
The gt will be new, but I'll have to wait + wait for the mail in rebate. The 5750 I can go pick it up tomorrow, but it's used..

gt640 or 5750?

I haven't installed fraps yet. But I'm playing test drive unlimited 2 just fine, and I'm sure it's the card doing all the hard work.
I'll buy some more games and post the frames that I get
