i have this old setup (2008-ish)
intel core 2 duo e4500 (2.2ghz)
4x512mb ddr2 kingston RAM (i think those are 800mhz )
amd hd6450 1gb ddr3
some E-view 250w PSU.

My current laptop is an asus N53sn.,specs are:
i7-2670qm
gt550m 2GB DDR3
8gb 1333mhz ddr3 RAM

Therefore iwould like to ask your opinions, since i cnt play far cry 3 at very high or ultra settings, this goes to a few other games i usually play, should i upgrade the old desktop system (OC' and chg its graphics card)?or stick with my laptop for the time being, or make a $550 gaming setup? guys i would like to know your opinions.

I would definitely see what processor are available to you for that older motherboard (Socket 775). In an E8400-E8600 processor is available at a decent price (and is compatible with the motherboard) that would be my first purchase. Next, I'd look at replacing the power supply with one of quality build and more than enough power to handle a newer graphics card.

Given your resolution and a better processor, you certainly shouldn't be running a top of the line card, but any mid-range card (HD7670 or GTX660Ti) would be a decent gaming combination.

4gb of RAM,new PSU 500watts right?, bt for the cpu part, finding a used cpu,is it reliable? as in who knows they might OC' it without sufficient cooling or smething like that? im really afrraid of that,
or is it better off to go with a $550 budget gaming setup?

2x2GB of ram. 500W is fine as long as its a good PSU. (being in a foreign country might prove problematic.) I only suggested used as they are easier to find for S775 then new ones. And probably cheaper as well. There are several used forums I know of in the USA that I've bought all my parts from. Computer parts devalue to fast for me to buy new. My current PC consists of a used i5 750, P55 board, and GTX460. (the ram, most of the drives, and PSU are new.) If you can find a new Q6600 or Q8xxx/9xxx then go for it.

Oh you are right then, but its true being in a foreign country is problematic to find 'aged' brand new parts, but is it worth it? or im better off a new sytem, what do you think? bt what about its lifespan for gaming? my mobo is like 4yrs+ will that be a risk somehow?

I don't know what prices are like where you are. I doubt you can find a new motherboard, CPU for the cost of an old CPU. Take a look and see what you can find. A S775 quad with 4GB and a good GPU should provide some good gaming. With a few exceptions.
