Hi,

Im going to be upgrading my CPU next week to an i5 3570k and I want to upgrade my graphics aswell. Currently I have a HD 6770 and I could either xfire it with another 6770 or sell it and purchase a 6850. My budget is fairly tight so I can't go for a 6870 or above. My current PSU is an OCZ 600w.

The main games I will be playing are: Guildwars 2, Planetside 2, Far Cry 3 and Arma 3 & Crysis 3 next year

What would you guys recommend?

Thanks

Better idea is to save additional $250 and go single high end GPU, HD 6850 neither HD 6870 will cut it anymore with the modern games at 1080P, my HD 6950 struggles with Far Cry 3, and never maxed out Crysis 2 at DX11.

You'll have a good CPU so better wait for a better GPU.

A 6850 is faster but not enough to spend the money, I recently bought a 6770 just to try out bitcoin mining lol but you should save your money for a true upgrade.

7850 2GB is much faster than a 6850/70 and the 7870 is even better.

I've heard a few times now that the 6850 is becoming outdated (obviously it's a little older now) but I find that my setup will run all my games even on near max settings just fine. I have an AMD 965 quad core cpu and I run 8gb ram with it on a descent mobo and it all seems to work very nicely for me. I've never experienced lag on max settings unless I'm playing online with any game. Please don't think I'm just rejecting your point though, ilysaml, you are right- these cards are getting older and will soon be artifacts at the rate things move.

The most graphically intense game I have is Battlefield 3 and I can run it Mid/High graphics online with no lag.

I'd say go for the best you can afford. If you need to save money, get the '770 xfire (I assume you already own one?). Now, I don't know how performance stacks up with xfire vs. a 6850 but I just gave you the run down on my 6850 and it runs everything super clean for me. If you can tho, get a single, better overall card. I find the 660 and 660 ti's (owned by some friends) to be great cards and you can find good cards in the $200-250 range.

Hope I helped some =)
