Mid-Range ASRock Z77 Extreme4 or Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H?

So I am looking at buying a new CPU (i5-3750k) and MOBO today or tomorrow and have been primarily looking at these two boards..

ASRock Z77-Extreme4 or the GIGABYTE GA-Z77-D3H

I am looking in to doing a LITTLE bit of overclocking but I have never done it before so I don't really know which one to go for as apparently different boards perform better or worse for OC. My low budget also prevents me from getting any extra beefy cooling systems.


Just wondering if anyone can lend any info to my decision.

My current board is a Gigabyte and I have had no issues with it at all...it was a great board.

Right now I feel like I am leaning towards the ASRock, though I am not entirely sure why!! It seems to have better on board audio and USB ports from what I have read.

Any ideas?!

ASRock is preferred by most of the overlockers on the forum.

Yup I use the Extreme 4 with my 2600k@4.2GHz and a Gigabyte Windforce X3 GTX 670 OC powered by a 600w PSU. Get the AsRock one now and you won't regret it

Either, but dont oc without at least an evo. Stock cooler is just not meant for that.
