Help with server build

well im pretty much a noob at this and i had the idea to make a server on the cheap side to just store things like movies,music etc for friends and family and was wondering is this list of products i have are good for such a thing or just suggestions in general on parts to get and things like that

The parts list seems to be ok, but it would be way easier to buy a one- or two-bay NAS box with a 2TB disk. They are designed for exactly what you want to do.
