I was wondering how one would connect 2 (or possibly 4) powered speakers to a computer's sound card? I currently have a SBLive, but can change the sound card to suit my needs. The 2 powered speakers I would like to use are called Studio Active 20's. Info can be seen here:

They will be paired with this subwoofer:

Regarding the 2 satellite speakers, I copy/pasted some relevant info from the manufacturer's site below;

> 2-driver, 2 way Active System with built in amplifiers and electronic crossovers
> High - current, discrete output, 125w RMS for bass / midrange section, 50w RMS for high frequency section
> Line Level Input - From Preamp / Proccesor or Paradigm® X-Series control unit or other suitable line level source. RCA or Balanced XLR

Do I need any other hardware to make this work?

Cheers,

Ron_Jeremy

You can get 1/4"-->RCA adapters at Radio Shack.

Alternately, you can get a Hercules Game Theater XP (a much better card than the Live anyway) that has RCA out.

That's all you should need to do, it's just analog audio.

It looks like the subwoofer you show expects the signal to be preconditioned. The soundblaster doesn't have a subwoofer output does it? If you have to have this subwoofer it looks like you will need at least an external crossover, and possibly an external preamp. You need a crossover so that the woofer only plays low frequencies.

The monitors should work fine as is with the proper wiring adapters.
