Hi all,
I just got my tax return back and with the money I am going to upgrade my pc. I am a huge gamer and I’m currently playing Guild Wars 2, Far Cry 3, Black ops 2, Battlefield 3, and soon to be Bioshock infinite, Metro Last Light, and Sim City. I don’t want to spend more than $2000 and if I can even hit $1500 or less that would be great. I was hoping I would get some feedback for what I plan on putting in it or possibly ideas of ways to make it cheaper without reducing too much performance and I also want to make sure it is future proof.

I currently have only a couple of parts I am keeping in my system.

I have a Themaltake Black Widow power supply,

Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 Motherboard,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
NZXT Phantom 410 Case,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
OCZ Agility 3 60GB SATA III SSD (for windows only),
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

So that is what I have so far and the list bellow is what I plan on buying.

2x Western Digital Black 7200RPM HD (RAID 0) $99.99each,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Intel Core i7 3770k CPU $329.99,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
G.Skills ARES series 16GB DDR3 1866 $94.99,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Corsair H100i Hydro series water cooler $109.99,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
2x MSI Lightning GTX 680 (SLI) $499.99each,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

So that is it… all together its about $1900 including tax. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
Thanks a lot
Mike

Mostly that is overkill

Use the 3570K
no gamer needs 16 gig of RAM . It wont improve game performance
a pair of GTX 680's in SLI? I hope you have 3 x 1080p monitors , or a 120 Hz monitor and those dorky 3D glasses

and RAID 0 of data storage? That just doubles your chances of losing all your files

Guild wars and battlefield are both very CPU heavy games.
I back my game save files up(due to past issues)
I'm running 3x1080p monitors 23"
I would appreciate constructive criticism please.
Thanks

Damn... you could save a bit money on the RAM. You could use 1866MHz RAM, but you won't notice any difference above 1600MHz. And also, you won't be needing 16GB for gaming, 8GB is most commonly enough.

If 16GB is needed:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

If 8GB is decided (recommended):

If 8GB 1866MHz is wanted:

I know I said this already, but you don't need 1866MHz RAM or 16GB, unless you'll be doing other tasks then just gaming. Even then, you won't need 1866MHz.

Thanks! Ill drop it down to 1600. I do run multiple applications sometimes but probably not enough to use all 16gb. Thanks for the feedback

No problem. You'll save a couple of $$$, as said, anything above 1600MHz isn't noticeable.
