Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg

Location: Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1280x1024

Additional Comments:

Planning to build a moderate-spec gaming rig.

I'll mostly be playing 3D MMORPGs such as Aion, Guild Wars 2, TERA Online and such, and would like to seek your expert opinions on how viable my current build is, before I begin to order the parts.

Budget is between 400-500 US Dollars, and as long as the above-mentioned games run smoothly (high graphic settings with no problems), I'd be pretty much satisfied.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: My laptop is NOT suitable for gaming due to its low spec.

All comments and opinions are appreciated,
Thank you in advance!

The CPU is pretty weak for MMOs. Try for a phenom II 965 at the least. You can buy a 1080p monitor on craigslist for like $60 or $70. I would suggest doing that.

The 550ti is a weak GPU but at a low resolution will be ok. At 1080p you are looking at medium-ish settings at best. Go for an hd 7770.

Get 2x4gb RAM not 1x8gb

get a 240w PSU.
