Ok, I'm trying to play an older mid 2000's era game on Win7. After setting Compatibility mode to XP SP2, the game will run. Trouble is it's somehow forcing my TV's refresh rate to 76Hz, but my screen's MAX refresh rate is 60Hz. Even weirder is 76Hz isn't even an option in the Nvidia panel.
I've ticked the box to hide unsupported resolutions.
I've tried creating a short-cut with -width -height etc. and the game ignores them. I've tired the -force command as well and no luck.
I downloaded a program (Display Changer) that loads a cmd.exe before the game to force settings and it will force the settings to 480p for me (meaning the 60Hz is in place and the TV menu reflects this), but the game complains about the disc not being in a drive despite actually being there and I confirmed it by loading the game again w/o the cmd.exe (Display Changer) program. This game extracts to a folder which the exe. resides in, but still needs a disc in the drive to read from.
The game has no resolution adjustments, no .ini files, and I've looked at the game.exe in a hex editor to try and find the resolution offsets in hopes I'd find the "4C" (76 in hex is 4C) near the resolutions to lower it to 60Hz but no luck either.
Any thoughts? Will running a TV 16Hz HIGHER than it's supposed to damage it? We're talking 640x480 @76Hz that the game is forcing.
