My Yashica 230AF is finally giving up on me after 16 years service, and
it seems like the time to move to to a DSLR. I have being researching
the options available for the last few weeks and, not wanting to end up
with another dodo (like the Yashica AF system), I decided to go for
Canon or Nikon.
Yesterday I went down to Jessops to lay my hands on the 350D and D70s.
The 350D felt too cramped when I looked through the viewfinder, so that
settled it. (I can't justify the extra expense of a 20D.)
However, they didn't have any in stock. Nor do Grays of Westminster
(who expect to have a few by the end of the week), Amazon.co.uk's
delivery time just went from "1 to 2 weeks" to "4 to 6 weeks" overnight
and warehouseexpress.com have a message on their site saying "Nikon are
[sic] currently experiencing production problems with the D70s."
I'm not in any desperate rush to buy and can wait a few weeks, but does
anyone know any more about this?

Also if Nikon have a problem with the D70s you may have had a lucky escape
and you can get one when the problem is sorted.
