I ended up buying the $99 Nikon Capture software which ends the problem
and now that I am used to it isn't all that bad but wastes time. On the
good side is that it allows you to forward the "tweaked" NEF image from
the D70S [or any other Nikon RAW format] to CS2. Still, I would have
preferred that I didn't have to spend the $99 and look forward to when
Adobe downloads a patch for the D70S [I have a D70 and its RAW format
works fine with CS2].

Are you doing that because you don't like ACR?
Version 3.1 of ACR can load D70S NEFs fine. It's a free
download from Adobe.
