I've had my custom built PC for a few years now, although I've upgraded the memory and graphics card over that time. However, I've noticed that certain games I've been playing recently have caused the PC to lock up, forcing me to restart. On the advice of my brother in law (who built the machine) I set the affinity of both Max Payne 3 and Mass Effect 3 to only play with one core of the processor, which seemed to work. However, Far Cry 3 is having the same problem and nothing seems to help.
I've ensured all the drivers are up to date, etc, but nothing seems to be working. As a relative PC noob, any help would be appreciated!
I'm not sure if the card is overheating, if the power supply is conking out, or if there's something else going on.
The specs are below:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Motherboard: asus P5N-T Deluxe
Processor: Intel Core 2 extreme X9650 3Ghz
Memory: 8 Gb RAM (Cosair Dominator)
GeForce Asus GTX 580
Power Supply: Thermaltake 1000w Toughpower supply
I have also downloaded the GUIP HW Monitor and uploaded the results below (frankly, it's all gibberish to me):
