Plz can you help me!!!

I'm just an amature when it comes to hardware and that sort of stuff. But recently I installed Windows 2000 Professional on my PC. Everything looked all right at first but then I started to notice that my hard disk was infrequently beginning to do some freaky sh*t. For example my computer is just turned on and nothing is beeing processed (that I can tell at least) and just out of the blue the hard drive starts running and running like I'm rendering a HUGE 3D movie or something. And it does this for at least 1-2 minutes or so(it is doing it now!).
The format of my drive was converted from FAT32 to NTFS when I updated from Windows 98 to 2000 Professional.

Is there anything that you can advice me to do about the drive.

Sincerelly, Sibbi82

you should have done a clean install that means fdisk, format, install win 2000 with a clean hard drive. Some of the problems you are experieceing is for the upgradeing a old operating system, did you run the compatibality check on hardware and software before installing?

Yes I did.
This is an IBM Deskstar Hard drive. Do my best knowledge it is compatible.
