Will I need a new PSU?

I'm getting this computer for Christmas: http://www.microcenter.com/product/402658/ENVY_h8-1450_Desktop_Computer#

I want to upgrade the video card to a hd 7770. It's not very expensive, and it should suit my gaming needs. I'm new to computers, and I'm not sure if I'll need to get a new power supply though. Any help would be appreciated.

More about will
  1. You'll probably need a new PSU, the stock OEM ones aren't good. The 7770 isn't a bad card, since you found that out yourself don't you think you would be able to come up a build on your own? It'd save you money, you'd have a better system, and you'd come out with much more knowledge.
  2. Also remember that this may void the manufacturer warranty.
  3. Do you think a 600W power supply is good enough? The main reason I didn't build my own computer is because I'm afraid that I would ruin something which would be wasting money.
  4. It's more than enough even too much.
  5. What do you recommend?

i know you will not overclock, but it worths the price and if your knowledge grows, you will do it in the future
  7. Well, if you want don't want to build your own, then buy this PSU. It'll give you more than enough power for your 7770 and it's good quality.
  8. Or this one for $40 after promo code and rebate. I know it's more than enough power but it's so cheap for a good PSU.

    XFX Core Edition PRO550W
  9. Wait, that PSU has 450W. I'm fairly certain that the one that comes with the PC has 460W, so what would be the point of buying that one? Better quality?
  10. Yes better quality, and many low quality units won't deliver close to what it says it will. I've seen some say 750w and they'll only do 500w. Also low quality PSU's can blow up and when that happens it can very likely take everything else with it.
