Just build my first pc! Light turns on and fans are working! But...

I am using an HDMI cable from my GTX 550 ti to my TV. However, it says no signal. I was told I would need a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable, but my GPU has an ordinary HDMI slot. Is there something I'm missing, or is there something that needs to be done to receive signal??? Thanks in advance!!! ![:D]( ":D")
