Search function lost in win7 classic view start menu

how do I:
a) add search function to start menu in classic view
b) get out of classic view and revert to win7 view?
c) find restore to do b)?
Keep getting error message eve every time I click on 'protection'

Try going start, control panel, programs, programs & features.

To the left of the control panel click on "turn windows features on or off".
scroll down and find and make sure "Windows search" is ticked.

If this does not work you can also troubleshoot it...

start, control panel (View in small icons), troubleshooting, under "system & security" click "run maintenance tasks"
