Normal Operating Temperature for AMD system.

Hello, What is considered normal running temperature for a six core amd processor running a 64 bit win pro 7 clean install with 16 gig of ram and ATI firepro v4800 video card.

  1. It depends on which 6 core processor you have. And normal varies from idle to max load. Here is a place you can search out your processor and get the safe max temp range.

  2. I have a AMD Phenom black edition 1100t running at 3.3 ghz and on a Gigabyte board 990 fxa 007. Do you have any ideas as to what the high low should be?

Assuming you have a well ventilated case, no obstruction to air flow, and a stock cooler, the idle should be around mid/high 30's C. The max temp for that processor is 62C: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AMD-Phenom%20II%20X6%201100T%20Black%20Edition%20-%20HDE00ZFBK6DGR%20%28HDE00ZFBGRBOX%29.html
But it shouldn't reach that unless all 6 cores are stressed at 100% for a long period. Even then, you'd want to keep the temp below the max.

From experience I've had with a similar 6-core (1090T), I found the stock cooler is a bit lacking for the hexacore. Even though the processor has the same 125W envelope the quad cores do, it generates more heat with 6 cores maxed out.
  4. Thank you for taking the time to share that with me. I learned how to put computers together but need to learn the parts of the OS and CMOS to keep it together and running. Thanks for the info that has been very helpful. :bounce:
